In 2001, several Denver church leaders, desperate to see men and women changed by God's presence, came together to consider the planting of a new church.
During 2003, after much discussion, planning and prayer, the Holy Spirit gave direction to plant Genesis Community Church (Genesis) in the northern suburbs of Denver (Thornton). Meeting on Saturday evenings as a “core” team, 10-12 couples have prayerfully determined our mission, ministry philosophy, and next steps.
In July 2008, we opened our arms to the community in a whole new way, launching Sunday morning services in our
current facility just off
I-25 at 120th in Thornton. Genesis is contemporary in style,
charismatic in worship, evangelical in doctrine, refreshing and informal in form, intellectually challenging and emotionally uplifting in message, and world-focused in missions.
Theologically, we embrace the Spirit-filled life and
the call to share
our faith.
Our focus at Genesis is to reach to people who
haven't yet committed to a walk of faith in Jesus
Christ. Every day, we share life with people who are
just an invite away from a life-changing encounter
with Christ. So, we invite our friends, family,
neighbors and co-workers to attend Genesis, to "come
and see", so they will hear and understand what it
means to be a "believer." Our church family is also
committed to helping you grow in spiritual maturity
and become a "passionate Christ follower." Because
the Christian life is one of constant development,
we focus on providing biblical principles that can
be applied to every day life. Through spirit-filled
worship and a positive, biblical message, we'll help
you move from "spectator in the stands" to active
participant in service.
